Within 4 hours travel from London is an ecosystem of talent, technology and investment around the climate tech sector, spanning the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The Climate Tech Supercluster initiative is here to make it a world-leading powerhouse for impact – the new “Silicon Valley” for climate tech. Co-founded by long-standing climate tech networks Cambridge Cleantech, Oxfordshire Greentech, and Liminal, the Climate Tech Supercluster’s mission is to showcase, develop and scale climate-critical technologies by bringing together innovators, investors and institutions across the region and globally.

With Cambridge Cleantech, we have helped deliver Cleantech Venture Day for the past 6 years, the UK’s ultimate meeting place for innovators, investors, large enterprises and economic development partners to see next generation climate tech solutions and investment opportunities. This day offers 20 of the most exciting climate tech startups and scaleups across Europe and beyond the opportunity to pitch to a room of 200 delegates. These events have seen over $700m invested in climate tech startups. 

February 2024 – February 2025

Oxford has a goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions across the city as a whole by 2040 – 10 years ahead of the legal deadline set by Government. 17% of the city’s emissions are related to industry, with 66% of the city’s industrial processes running on gas. 

The ZCOP Industrial Decarbonisation project, funded by Innovate UK and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, enabled a project team to work with industry to build collaboration, understanding locally, and to create an industry specific roadmap and action plan. 

Oxfordshire Greentech led stakeholder engagement as part of the project team, alongside Oxford City Council, Oxfordshire County Council, BMW, Unipart, ARC Oxford and ERM.  

ZCOP (Zero Carbon Oxford Partnership) is a collaboration of large businesses, institutions, and community organisations committed to working together to achieve a net zero city by 2040. 

January 2024 – March 2025 

A group of leaders from local government, business boards, the Arc Universities Group and England’s Economic Heartland, with government, have come together as a pan-regional partnership for the Oxford to Cambridge region.  
 
The partnership’s mission is to secure a future in which our communities prosper from the very best in environmentally sustainable and innovative ways of living and working. As part of this, Oxfordshire Greentech and Cambridge Cleantech created an Innovation Network of Networks, bringing together network leaders in cleantech, digital, education, health and more within the pan region, to identify common challenges and collaboration opportunities. We put on quarterly meetings to facilitate the development of this network and encourage innovation across the region. 

May 2024 – March 2025 

We developed a 10-week Sustainability Skills Bootcamp in partnership with Activate Learning, Blenheim Palace and Siemens Healthineers, covering climate science, energy, waste and resource management, transport, stakeholder engagement and more. Participants developed a sustainability action plan they could take back to their organisations and presented plans to a panel of sustainability experts at the end of the Bootcamp. We’ve launched this Bootcamp in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Surrey, contributing to the uptake of green skills across the region.

Oxfordshire Greentech sits on the Net Zero Steering Group for SMEs, chaired by the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP). Together, we have compiled a website of guidance and resources for Oxfordshire SMEs interested in starting their Net Zero journey. Oxfordshire Greentech has played a vital role in the group, bringing our sustainability expertise, deep knowledge of the Oxfordshire business ecosystem, and links to resources to the group’s outputs, as well as being a founding member of the group.  

Spring 2023 – Summer 2024 

The Desafìa London Immersion Programme, run by Oxfordshire Greentech, Cambridge Cleantech, the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and the Spanish government, supported Spanish companies in the clean and climate tech sectors, helping them to scale faster by accelerating their internationalisation process. 

The programme took advantage of the ‘Golden Triangle’ cluster and offered a gateway to key ecosystem players within London, Cambridge and Oxford, as well as offering companies world-leading executive training.
